Our annual festival was a success. The Heinzmann Irish Step Dancers were terrific, as was the Fiddlers Restrung. We also had our dear friend Charlie Taylor who was enjoyed by all. The Jim Perkins group was our final act and did a fine job. We want to thank all who helped us to make this event so successful. We have some changes planned for next year so we will work them out and keep you informed. Thanks to all Jo Clark Secretary, Downriver Irish American Club Officers & Board of Directors

2002 Scholarship Recipients First Time Recipients

These scholarships are made possible through the hard work of Sally Forgette, Cassie Stauder and other members of the social committee. They take care of the Blackthorn concert each spring and the proceeds are put into the scholarship fund. There has been a total of 24 scholarships given a total of $13,5000 since the start of this program. All of these young people have very good GPA and have received other awards from their school. We were awarding our students $500 each, but because of the success and hard work of everyone who supported it, bought a ticket or worked on the concert, we were able to increase the scholarship to $600 this year.
